There are so many...

...different shots to capture in a newborn session, from a super posed (and composited) "froggy pose" where baby's chin is resting on her hands to the more relaxed "mug shot," which are simple and unposed head shots when baby are awake. I love curating and capturing whole scenes with timeless wraps, knits, florals, and props, but I also love to capture little detail shots. Close ups of the nose, lips, ears, finger, and toes...and nothing more so than the little eyelashes!

My youngest, born just over a year ago, had the dreamiest eyelashes when she was born, and so I was sure to capture several shots of them when she was a newborn (and I still try to now, although it's much hard to get her to stand still long enough to focus the camera on her lashes!). I particularly love capturing the eyelashes in side profile when babies are dreaming away in my studio. These are the teeny-tiny details that often fade with time and even from memory, and so it can be so sweet to capture them, to hold onto them for many years to come.
