Welcome to the world, Baby E!


Every baby I photograph is special—each tiny face, every sleepy sigh, and those delicate newborn stretches are full of wonder. But Baby E. holds a little extra sparkle in my heart this week. He’s the first baby for his family, and it was clear from the moment I met them just how loved and cherished he already is.


For this session in my Charlottesville-area studio, we chose a warm but neutral aesthetic to really let Baby E. shine—and he absolutely did. He was calm, cozy, and so expressive. In fact, he gave me what felt like a bazillion yawns (yes, I was counting with my heart), and I managed to catch some of them on camera. I’m including one of my favorite yawn shots of all time here—it’s the kind of image that makes me squeal behind the camera!


What made this session extra fun was when Baby E.'s parents asked if we could try to capture some awake shots. As a newborn photographer, I'm usually trying to lull babies into that dreamy, squishy sleepiness we all love—but I also secretly hope for a few alert moments. Those open eyes and curious expressions are such a joy to photograph. Even in their very first days, babies are full of personality, and Baby E. was no exception. His bright eyes and calm presence added so much dimension to the session.


To Baby E., welcome to the world. And to his proud parents—congratulations! Thank you for trusting me with these first memories. I’m so honored to have captured your little one just as he is in these beautiful early days: perfect, expressive, and already so loved.
